For readers looking to grab the latest trending novel on BookTok or the next piece to add to a vintage book collection, George Mason Friends’ biannual book sale is the place for you. The nonprofit organization is hosting its fall book sale at George Mason Regional Library (GMRL) at 7001 Little River Tpke., Annandale, this weekend.

There’s a preview sale on October 22 for a $20 fee. The general sale runs from October 23 to 26 with free entry.

The book sale includes used children and adult fiction and nonfiction, CDs, DVDs, recent textbooks, antique encyclopedias, and more. In the lobby of the library, several displays also feature fine art, rare books, collectables, and pop-up children’s books.

The items on sale are all donated from the surrounding community, and all funds go to GMRL and Fairfax County Public Library (FCPL) initiatives. Previous book sale earnings have gone to FCPL’s Summer Reading Adventure program, Fairfax Library Foundation scholarships, and purchasing GMRL furniture, program material, and equipment.

The event has an array of different books for sale, covering genres like photography, performing arts, architecture, cooking, military history, gardening, and more. Thousands of CDs have been donated for the sale, in styles like classical, pop, country, and jazz.

One book highlighted on George Mason Friends’ blog is A Baker’s Daughter by Marcy Brenner and Kristin Donnan. This book tells the true story of the Brenner family, which owned several bakeries around Northern Virginia. Another is Liquid Intelligence by David Arnold, a cocktail book that won both a James Beard and the International Association of Chefs award.

Established in 1975, George Mason Friends is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission to support local libraries by providing and raising funds for projects at GMRL in Annandale and in the broader Fairfax County community. The organization hosts two seasonal sales; the other is in the spring.
