Enjoy the fresh air at one of NoVA’s outdoor shopping districts. These retail centers are home to independent boutiques and retail chains. Spend the whole day shopping, eating, and enjoying quality family time. From antique stores to waterfront dining, these NoVA outdoor malls have everything to meet your needs.

Fairfax Corner

Leisure is the name of the game at this shopping center. Fairfax Corner offers chic clothing stores, interior design studios, and self-care shops. Stop by Bluemercury or Beauty Door Salon and Spa for a treat yourself afternoon. Up your fitness regimen with a purchase from Potomac River Running Store or REI. As you shop, bring a to-go cocktail from California Pizza Kitchen, Crafthouse, P.F. Chang’s, or Uncle Julio’s. The Plaza at Fairfax Corner hosts a range of family-friendly events throughout the year, such as artisan markets and mini golf. 4100 Monument Corner Dr., Fairfax

Mosaic District

Live out your shopaholic dreams at this urban shopping center. Purchase seasonal home décor at Anthropologie or West Elm. Mosaic also offers several chic retail chains, including Madewell, Lululemon, and Kendra Scott. No matter your post-shopping craving, Mosaic’s restaurants have you covered. Grab a Neapolitan pizza from Pupatella or kebab platters from Kirby Club, named one of our 50 best restaurants in Northern Virginia. Mosaic’s Sip & Stroll program allows you to shop with a to-go cocktail. Starting in April, pick up fresh produce and pastries at Mosaic’s FRESHFARM Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday. Finish the day at Strawberry Park, a vast green space to lounge or catch a free outdoor movie. 2905 District Ave., Fairfax

Old Town Alexandria

Start the day with a hearty brunch at one of the city’s bistros, diners, or grills. Old Town’s King Street is home to historic architecture and one of the area’s largest collections of independent boutiques. King Street and its neighboring streets are your destination for shoes, clothing, cosmetics, and home design. You’ll also find bookstores, toy shops, stationery stores, and antiquing gems. Don’t leave Old Town without visiting the Torpedo Factory Art Center, where you can admire and buy the work of local artisans. King Street, Alexandria

Middleburg

Under a mile long, this shopping district is packed with vintage shops, art galleries, and stylish boutiques. Crème de la Crème and the consignment shop, Another Blue Moon, specialize in high-end home goods. Pick up some warm-weather closet staples at Lou Lou, Tully Rector, or Zest Retail. Little ones will love exploring PLAYroom, an expansive toy store. Cafés like Cuppa Giddy Up and Middleburg Common Grounds will ensure you’re energized for a full day of retail. Washington Street, Middleburg

Downtown Historic Occoquan

This riverfront town offers a picturesque shopping experience. With over 80 small and family-owned businesses, there’s no shortage of retail. You’ll find numerous clothing boutiques and food and gift stores. Support local artists with a purchase at one of Occoquan’s galleries. Visit Marin Woodturning for handcrafted bowls or Sincerely Yours Stained Glass Studio for colorful mosaics. Refuel with an outdoor meal at the Harbour Grille or Madigan’s Waterfront. Wrap up your day in Occoquan with a freshly baked treat from Mom’s Apple Pie. Mill Street, Occoquan
