Weecycled Wardrobe Consignment Sale to Have 98K Items for Kids

This consignment sale in Fredericksburg will have everything from clothing to baby furniture.

By Riane Oquiza March 15, 2024 at 9:11 am

Need season-appropriate clothes for your children without breaking the bank? Whether gearing up for summer or stocking up on spring wear, Weecycled Wardrobe is holding a huge children’s consignment sale the weekend of March 22–24.

The biannual event, held every March and August, offers parents a chance to shop for clothing, toys, baby gear, and more at The Field House in Fredericksburg. Over 98,000 items are available for newborns to teens.

Items are consigned in advance, with Weecycled Wardrobe putting an emphasis on seasonal attire and the clothing’s condition. Cribs, strollers, and high chairs feature discounts up to 70 to 80 percent off retail prices.

The consignment sale was the brainchild of Vicki Burrow and Penny Wack, two longtime friends who dreamed of starting a consignment sale in Fredericksburg. At its inception, they were supported by only 25 people, now the community has grown to over 1,000 consignors.

Not Your Usual Marketplace

For buyers, there are many areas they can explore. The field contains racks upon racks of clothing and baby gear. The basketball court boasts bigger items like bikes, car seats, outdoor toys, and slides.

“There’s one thing we can never seem to keep enough of: wagons!” Burrow says. “These beloved staples fly off the floor faster than you can say ‘Weecycled Wardrobe.'” To beat the rush, bring your own wagon or big canvas bag to store your items.

After shopping, families can enjoy a snack bar offering burgers, french fries, and cupcakes.

Part of the success of the event is owed to the consignors who earn money by decluttering their homes.

“Our consignors return year after year, as do our dedicated helpers, forming bonds that go beyond mere transactions,” Burrow says. On average, consignors walk away with $380 after selling.

Even if items go unsold, Burrow says that they “will be donated to local charitable organizations and schools, providing essential support to those in need.”

The next registration opening for consignors will be held in June, just in time for the August back-to-school and winter sale.

Enjoy free admission from March 22–24. The sale will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. It will be held at Fredericksburg Field House at 3411 Shannon Park Dr. in Fredericksburg.

Sunday shoppers can snag most items at a 50 percent discount. New moms with children under six months and those who are expecting their first child can register for free, exclusive early access on Thursday, March 21. Early bird and night owl tickets for Thursday are also available for $20 and $10, respectively.
