Where to Sip and Stroll in Northern Virginia

Cocktails and shopping go hand-in-hand when you visit these outdoor shopping centers.

By Michele Kettner August 25, 2023 at 9:59 am

Sure, online shopping makes everything easier, but why not spend the day going from shop to shop with your favorite cocktail or alcoholic beverage in hand? If that holds appeal, make a plan to visit one of these outdoor shopping centers. Note, not every shop participates in these programs.

Fairfax Corner

Stroll around the plaza and shop with a drink in hand. Place your order at either California Pizza Kitchen, Crafthouse, P.F. Chang’s, or Uncle Julio’s, then enjoy a stroll through the other storefronts. 4100 Monument Corner Dr., Fairfax

First Friday Fredericksburg

On the first Friday of every month, downtown Fredericksburg transforms into a sip and stroll area from 5 to 9 p.m. Not only can you enjoy drinks from 23 restaurants, but guests can take in street performances and art galleries while they explore everything downtown. Last call is at 8:30 p.m. Downtown Fredericksburg

Mosaic District

We can see why Mosaic District was named the Best Outdoor Shopping District in Best of NoVA. Not only does it have endless shopping, dining, and service options, but it has a Sip and Stroll program. With 15 participating restaurants, you are sure to find your favorite drink to help set the mood for your next shopping spree. 2910 District Ave., Fairfax

Reston Town Center Second Saturdays

Through October, Reston Town Center holds a Sip & Stroll event on the second Saturday of the month. In addition to grabbing drinks from JINYA Ramen Bar, Markers Union, and other spots, guests can enjoy live music, vendors, a game zone, and a kids’ zone. Last call is at 5 p.m. 11900 Market St., Reston

Village at Leesburg

You don’t have to be confined to drinking inside when you visit the Village at Leesburg. Just stop by one of the nine participating restaurants, including Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, Plaza Azteca, and The Conche, to order a glass of wine, beer, or cocktail, then you can be on your way to enjoy the beautiful outdoors. 1602 Village Market Blvd., Leesburg
