There’s no denying it, vintage is in — and for good reason. Buying preowned clothing and décor can be a great way to develop a unique personal style, save a little money, and practice sustainability in your day-to-day life. And while there are plenty of great vintage and consignment shops in the area that offer vintage finds in more traditional brick-and-mortar stores, there’s something to be said for the experience of strolling a flea market on a Saturday morning, reusable tote in hand.

Here are five vintage and antique markets in the area where you can search the booths for unusual, collectible, and quirky treasures.

The Fairfax Funky Flea Market

This monthly market is partnered with the City of Fairfax Parks and Rec Department to bring visitors a wide selection of vendors to the parking lot outside Fairfax City Hall. In addition to their offerings of arts and crafts, vintage items, and clothing, visitors can also enjoy live music and stop by food vendors to refuel after a day of shopping. The event is on the last Saturday of every month from April to October. Next date: August 27. 10455 Armstrong St., Fairfax

The DC Big Flea Antiques Market

Billed as “the mid-Atlantic’s largest antiques flea market,” this indoor market certainly commands a presence. The Dulles Expo Center is filled to the brim with antique finds, perfect for finding a distinct piece of art, vintage furniture, collectors’ items, or even clothing and jewelry. The market runs for two days, with a $10 entrance fee that admits shoppers for both days. Next dates: September 17-18. 4320 Chantilly Shopping Ctr., Chantilly

Georgetown Flea Market

This open-air flea market has been a go-to vintage market in the area since its beginnings in 1972. Unlike many markets that operate seasonally, the Georgetown Flea Market runs year-round. No matter the season, every Sunday, Georgetown Flea will be there to offer you some vintage collectibles. Keep in mind, though, that the website notes that extreme weather may impact operations. Next date: August 28. 1819 35th St. NW, Washington, DC

Arlington Citivan Open Air Market

The Arlington Citivan Open Air market is the largest flea market in Arlington, with an impressive roster of over 150 vendors spread over five levels of a parking garage. The event runs the first Saturday of every month from April to November and is perfect for early birds, as business hours run from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Next date: September 3. 4001 15th St. N., Arlington

Del Ray Vintage and Flea Market

Just a mile away from Old Town Alexandria, this market is a great place to stroll and look around for fun finds. While you’re there, you can stop by the Rocklands BBQ food truck for authentic barbecue from a local business. The market takes place once per month all year long, on the second Saturday of the month. Before you go, take note that the organizers encourage visitors to bring cash in case some vendors don’t accept cards, and to carry a reusable bag to be environmentally friendly. Next date: September 10. Mt. Vernon and E. Bellefontes Aves, Alexandria
