Destination Curated is located in the always-lively Old Town Alexandria Boutique District, right across from Market Square.
Atmosphere As you walk in, the boutique feels familiar and inviting as though you are visiting a friend’s apartment. The shiny wood floors, open layout, soft color palette and exposed brick wall give a contemporary feel to the entire space. The fresh fragrance in the air is from one of the handmade candles sold within the store. Currently, Curated is scented with a kale candle by Produce.
Bread and Butter The store specializes in handmade items. The majority of Curated’s space is devoted to home and kitchen, but the store also carries other items such as graphic tees, jewelry and handbags. Owner Page Castrodale is no stranger to the independent suppliers with whom she works to fill up her store. “I like that I can vouch for the stuff that’s in the store, but I also like bringing in new stuff,” she says. Soon enough, customers can expect kids and men’s items to pop up on Curated’s shelves.
Sweet Surprises Dear Mushka, a jewelry brand from Tennessee, is a big hit with customers. “The jewelry is a best-seller and a favorite. It’s simple; it’s classy [and] very affordable,” says Castrodale. The barware selection is also quite popular. The Map Mason Washington, D.C., etched map Mason jar glasses and Bittermilk handcrafted cocktail mixers can serve as great entertaining elements and as unique hostess gifts.
Fiercest Fan The store’s primary customer is any woman who appreciates quality and has a keen eye for details when purchasing items for her home or as gifts.
