Bras for Hope
On Saturday, October 25 from 12-6 p.m., Belle Mode Intimates will be the only boutique in Fairfax County to offer products as well as services for women undergoing treatments for breast cancer through their 3rd Annual Bras for Hope event, which helps to sponsor George Washington University’s Mammovan. Created in 1996, the Mammovan has provided mobile mammogram life-saving services for early detection screenings of breast cancer, regardless of cost. The event will also have two CMTS , also known as Certified Mastectomy Fitters, for fittings to help consult post-mastectomy customers (appointments recommended), this service will continue through Monday, October 27. In addition, new or used bras can be dropped off from now until October 26th at Belle Mode Intimates and be donated to a local women’s shelter or recycled. Fashion Show to Benefit SafeSpot
SafeSpot, Children’s Advocacy Center of Fairfax County, will host its Annual Fall Fashion Show on Sunday October 26 with a 10 a.m. brunch and raffle followed by an 11 a.m. fashion show and noon shopping event held at Bloomingdale’s at Tysons Corner. Tickets are $75 per person, with all proceeds from tickets sales going directly to SafeSpot along with the sponsorship and raffle as well as 10 percent of the sales from the event. Mad for Plaid Party
On Thursday October 23, 3 Sisters Boutique in Old Town Alexandria will host a “Mad for Plaid Party.” Attendees will get to peruse their newest selection of dresses, ponchos, jackets and more all while listening to the DJ Ramzy from 4-8 p.m. Shoppers will receive 20 percent off the entire purchase and if you spend over $75, a free scarf is included.
Blogger Crawl for Local Shopping
On October 17, the first Blogger Crawl was held by Carlis Sanchez of SCDC Agency and NeuProfile‘s Jessica Hoy in what hopes to be the first of many of these types of fashionable events. The Fashionable Broke, K Street Kate, Clarendon Moms, La Belle Mel and A Lacey Perspective were among the top 15 area bloggers to be invited to visit 12 local stores in Old Town Alexandria. A sample of stores that participated were She’s Unique, Bloomers, Current Boutique, Mint Condition, The Shoe Hive, Bellacara and Bishop Boutique, just to name a few.
