Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia residents count on Alison Starling to deliver up-to-the-minute information on ABC7 News every evening, receiving word on the events of the day and staying updated on the goings on of this busy region. After announcing her pregnancy in February, it was Starling’s turn to be on the receiving end of some help.
“A lot of my friends came together to give us baby stuff that they’ve made or things from their own kids who have grown up. Everyone has been so wonderful,” she says.
Starling and her husband, NBC News White House Correspondent Peter Alexander, have been preparing for the baby with all of the basics … and then a few of those irresistibly adorable not-so-essentials.
“I don’t think baby hats are that necessary,” Starling says, holding up a frilly lavender number. “I think they’re more for the parents. She’ll probably rip it off within a few minutes, but, hey, she’ll look cute!”
The equally charming and successful couple has collected furniture from their childhoods, fun toys from friends and a closet full of itty bitty ensembles. The blend of old heirlooms and new soon-to-be favorites prove that the little bundle will be coming into the world well-loved, well-learned and extremely well-dressed.
