There’s something special about listening to live music in the mountains. At Shenandoah Valley Music Festival, evenings begin with fresh air, scenic views, and the anticipation of a performance under the stars.
Held each summer at historic Shrine Mont in Orkney Springs, Virginia, the festival has welcomed audiences for more than 60 years. What started as a regional tradition has grown into one of Virginia’s most beloved outdoor music experiences, drawing visitors from across the Mid-Atlantic for its unique blend of nationally recognized artists and relaxed mountain atmosphere.

The festival’s open-air pavilion and lawn is surrounded by the rolling hills and forested beauty of the Shenandoah Valley, creating a concert setting unlike a traditional arena or amphitheater. As daylight fades behind the Blue Ridge Mountains, audiences settle in with picnic dinners, lawn chairs, and blankets for evenings that feel both intimate and unforgettable.

This year’s lineup brings an exciting mix of legendary performers and fan favorites to the Shenandoah Valley stage. Classic rock fans can enjoy the timeless harmonies of Little River Band on July 17, followed by the Motown sound of the Four Tops on July 18, whose iconic songs helped define a generation of American music.
Country music audiences can look forward to Diamond Rio on July 24, bringing their award-winning hits that have remained staples of country radio for decades. On July 25, the LSO Big Band celebrates America’s 250th anniversary with a spirited Big Band Birthday Party performance featuring patriotic favorites and the energy of a live big band experience.

The festival continues August 7 with original Beach Boy Al Jardine & The Pet Sounds Band paying tribute to the legendary Brian Wilson, followed by The Bacon Brothers on August 8 with their blend of rock, folk, and Americana influences.
The season concludes with two September performances celebrating classic rock and Americana traditions. Hotel California returns on September 5 with a stunning recreation of the Eagles’ legendary sound, while the Hot Strings & Cool Breezes Americana Minifest on September 6 showcases artists including Michael Cleveland & Jason Carter, Josh & Jenee of The Wood Box Heroes, and additional performances.
More than just a concert venue, the festival has become part of the Shenandoah Valley summer experience. Guests often arrive early to enjoy the grounds at Shrine Mont before the music begins, sharing food and conversation while children play nearby. The setting encourages visitors to slow down, connect, and enjoy the evening together.
Many concertgoers also choose to turn their visit into a weekend getaway. Lodging packages at Shrine Mont make it easy to stay overnight and spend additional time exploring the region’s scenic drives, hiking trails, caverns, breweries, and small towns.
Whether you come for a favorite artist, a romantic night in the mountains, or a memorable family outing, Shenandoah Valley Music Festival offers a distinctly Virginian experience where music, scenery, and tradition come together summer after summer. Come earlier, stay longer, and enjoy great music in the Shenandoah Valley this summer!
