How Primrose Schools® Makes the Most of the First Five Years

The Primrose Schools Balanced Learning® curriculum combines the best thinking from early learning theorists, like Montessori, with modern research to help nurture a love of learning in every child. By going beyond academics to character development, physical development, life skills, and even learning a second language, we help set children up for success in future classrooms and beyond.

Every child is unique and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to early childhood education. That’s why our Balanced Learning® curriculum combines proven practices from early learning approaches like Montessori and Reggio with the latest research in child development.

While many preschools use off-the-shelf curricula, Primrose Schools partnered with experts in early education to design a learning approach from the ground up. Our STEM-based, research-informed curriculum combines purposeful play with nurturing guidance from teachers to tap into the ways that children learn best.

Ninety percent of a child’s brain develops in the first 5 years and children are never more receptive to learning than during this time. We make the most of these early years by balancing academic learning with character development, life skills and more.

For example, learning a second language is easiest for children before they turn five. The Primrose Schools Mucho Mundo® program incorporates Spanish language lessons throughout daily learning experiences. This includes morning greetings, talking about the weather and days of the week, and incorporating Spanish vocabulary during other lessons — like learning about the seasons and even nocturnal animals. By exploring fun songs, activities and customs, Primrose students learn simple Spanish vocabulary and polite conversation. Learning a second language early in life can help in literacy development while also encouraging curiosity and an appreciation for different cultures.

High-quality early childhood education has lasting benefits for children. By partnering with parents to support each child’s individual needs, we make the most of a child’s first 5 years and help set them up for success in future classrooms and beyond.
