Trcore Lee Grant, 32, of Purcellville, has been arrested for soliciting sex and engaging in sexually explicit communication with a minor.
Fairfax County Police Department announced in a news release that detectives from its Child Exploitation Unit received information on December 19 that a 14-year-old had been solicited for sex.
After an investigation led detectives to Grant, the suspect was arrested at his home on December 26 with the assistance of Virginia State Police and the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
Grant was charged with three counts of solicitation of a minor, indecent liberties with a child, and contributing to delinquency of a minor. He is in custody at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center until he is extradited to Fairfax County.
FCPD reminds parents to monitor their child’s online activity and use security settings to block inappropriate sites or content.
“Children should be encouraged to report any person engaging in inappropriate conversations or trying to coerce them into providing sexually explicit images of themselves,” FCPD said. “There are many applications predators use to solicit victims. Parents are encouraged to know what applications their children are using and have open dialog of the dangers they may pose.”
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has resources online to teach families about internet safety.
