A Woodbridge man is being held without bond on drug trafficking charges after police found about 25,000 fentanyl pills in two homes in Prince William and Culpeper counties.
Virginia State Police charged Stewart L. Skinner III, 33, after a three-month investigation by the Blue Ridge Narcotics and Gang Task Force.
That task force is made up of law enforcement officers from the Culpeper, Fauquier, Orange, Madison, and Rappahannock sheriff’s offices, as well as from the Culpeper, Warrenton, Orange police departments, and the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Culpeper Field Office.
It’s believed the drug trafficking occurred in both counties.
When task force members executed search warrants at the two homes on September 26 and 29, they not only found the drugs, but also two handguns, a rifle, and $26,363 in cash, police said. One of the guns had been reported stolen in Manassas.
Fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid drug, is cheap to produce. It is said to be 100 times more potent than morphine and 50 times more potent than heroin.
Skinner, who was already wanted in Prince William County, faces charges of maintaining a drug house, possession with the intent to distribute, possession of drugs while having a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of an automatic firearm.
Virginia State Police said in a news release that the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Virginia State Police Blue Ridge Gang and Narcotic Task Force at 540-547-2997 or email [email protected].
