There is always something to do throughout Northern Virginia’s parks, and new upgrades are coming to several local Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority facilities.

At Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna, a new greenhouse or orangery will be built, thanks to a donation from The Volgenau Foundation, totaling $850,000. The greenhouse is set to be complete by mid-November.

In Arlington, at Upton Hill Regional Park, a new climbing tower with a ropes course will be built, slated to open in 2020. The course will be near the park’s batting cage, and will offer a variety of climbing levels.

Lastly, Falls Church will see the construction of NOVA Parks’ first “dual trails” on the Washington & Old Dominion Regional Trail. It will offer separated areas for pedestrians and bicyclists, and will cost $3.7 million. In the near future, NOVA Parks plans to add separated sections in all parts of the 40-plus-mile trail that are located in urban areas.
