Metro summer shutdown extended by one week; Enter National Parks for free this weekend

The Metro summer shutdown for the six Blue and Yellow Line stations south of Reagan National Airport just got longer. Originally set to be closed from May 25 to Sept. 2, it has now been extended through Sept. 8. (Fox 5 DC)

On Saturday and Thursday, April 25, national park guests will receive free admission, as part of National Park Week, the annual event held by the National Park Service. This year’s event will be held from April 20 to 28. (NBC 4 Washington)

Ten percent of Loudon County farmland (about 20 square miles) has disappeared over the past five years. In the wake of the news, the county’s farmers met on Wednesday to discuss the county’s comprehensive plan, raising concerns over losing more land. (Loudoun Now)
