Report says road salt hurts local environment; Virginia Tech to hold session on plans for Innovation Campus

Road salt may play a role in the recent spikes of chloride concentrations in Reston stream, along with other environmental issues, according to Doug Britt, a member of the Reston Association’s Environmental Advisory Committee. (Reston Now)

The City of Alexandria will host a virtual information session with Virginia Tech University to outline plans for the university’s planned Innovation Campus on Feb. 21, at 8 p.m. It will be accessible on the city’s website and via cablecast on AlexTV (Comcast channels 70 and 1084). (WTOP)

On Monday, Virginia lawmakers unanimously passed a bill to set classroom partition safety rules statewide. This comes as a result of the death of 9-year-old Wesley Lipicky, who was crushed to death in May 2018 when he got caught between a motorized room partition and a wall inside his school in Alexandria. (NBC 4 Washington)
