Get the fire going on Thanksgiving. Weather forecasts are predicting a cold snap to come through on Wednesday evening that will likely result in some of the coldest temperatures for Thanksgiving in years, with expected highs to be between 30 and 35 degrees.

Last week, the Vienna Planning Commission approved plans for Signature Properties to build a two-house subdivision on property that currently houses a log cabin that was believed to be built in 1937. The goal is for the builder to work with local historians to preserve the cabin.

Metro’s Yellow line will see reduce hours starting on Thanksgiving Day, followed by usual safe track delays over the weekend, before it is shut down for two weeks for updates. From Nov. 26-Dec. 9, the Yellow line bridge over the Potomac River will be shut down, causing service at Blue and Yellow line stations to be half the usual schedule.

Fairfax County is moving forward with proposed zoning changes for Reston. The changes would see the maximum allowed population in the Planned Residential Community district to increase from 13 people per acre to 15.
