Man wanted for Fairfax crime spree arrested in Maryland; Arlington County reveals new Rosslyn road plans

32-year-old Alton Thodos, who escaped Fairfax County police by climbing through an Alexandria motel attic on Sept. 29 and then allegedly went on a car theft crime spree in Fairfax County, was arrested in District Heights, Maryland, on Tuesday.

At a public meeting on Tuesday, Arlington County presented plans to the “Core of Rosslyn” that would create two-way roads around the Rosslyn Metro station, increase pedestrian and cyclist accessibility and get rid of the Fort Myer Drive tunnel under Wilson Boulevard.

After a transgender girl at a Stafford County middle school was instructed to sit in the hallway during an active shooter drill because teachers did not know which locker room she should go into, transgender advocates attended a school board meeting on Tuesday. The school’s superintendent, Dr. Scott Kizner, apologized and said that he is open to adopting policies permitting students to use bathrooms that match their gender identities.

Fairfax County’s Department of Transportation is planning to study 31 miles of the Fairfax County Parkway between Route 7 and Route 1, which includes 83 intersections and 17 interchanges, to see how the roadway could be improved in the future.
