At the end of July, three property owners submitted appeals in opposition of the Heritage Preservation Review Board‘s decision to approve the redevelopment of downtown Herndon. As a result, Herndon officials have withdrawn the application and are discussing next steps.

Sunday night, a 33-year-old McLean woman was arrested for allegedly shooting two juveniles in a Tysons Corner apartment. One of the children was killed and the other was taken to the hospital.

The family of Jholie Moussa, a 16-year-old girl from Fairfax County, started a nonprofit called Not A Runaway Inc. in the hopes of having more alerts sent out for children who are missing. Moussa went missing on Jan. 12, 2018, but an Amber Alert was not called because police could not tell if she was in danger. Moussa’s body was found two weeks later.

Despite rumors that a hate group associated with the Ku Klux Klan would have three private Metro rail cars and a police escort to get to the “Unite the Right” rally at Lafayette Square on Aug. 12, Metro has said that the group will receive no special treatment.
