Devin P. Kelley, the man who killed 26 people in a Sutherland Springs, Texas, church shooting, was sentenced to a year in prison and kicked out of the United States Air Force in 2014 after he was charged with abusing his wife and child. The Air Force did not enter Kelley’s offenses into the National Criminal Information Center, which would have prevented him from being able to purchase the firearms and body armor he had used in Sunday’s mass shooting.

Loudoun County Public Schools recently increased pay, benefits and paid training opportunities for the county’s school bus drivers. Bus routes were also consolidated to make up for driver shortages. With parents voicing their concerns about the new bus routes, the Loudoun Education Association has come forward to explain that morale is low among the bus drivers, and that there is a “climate of disrespect” within the transportation department.

On Nov. 21, the Prince William County Police Department will host a “faith-based” training program for churches wanting to learn more about what they should do in an active shooter situation. The training will take place at the Western District Station (8900 Freedom Center Blvd.).
