Two shootings occurred at the Virginia State University this week, the first sending the school into lockdown on Saturday night and the second taking place on Thursday night. The victim in Saturday’s shooting did not sustain life-threatening injuries, though Thursday’s victim did sustain life-threatening injuries.

Earlier this month, burglars entered Prince William County homes using garage door openers from victims’ unlocked cars. Recently, similar robberies have occurred in Loudoun County, evidenced by a Sterling incident on Tuesday night. Five robberies of this nature have been reported since Oct. 13.

Designs for the Long Bridge Park Aquatics Center have been released from Christman/HOK, Coakley Williams/Page, Forrester/EYP, and HESS/VMDO. The center, which will include a 50-meter pool, multiple diving platforms, a family pool and health and fitness spaces, faced a years-long delay due to cost overruns. Now through Oct. 29, the public can weigh in on their favorite designs by sharing feedback online or visiting Clarendon’s Courthouse Plaza lobby on weekdays from 8 a.m.-7 p.m.

Ty Burrell from “Modern Family” and Common, an actor, activist and rapper, will make appearances at the Washington West Film Festival next week (Oct. 25-30) in Reston and Arlington. Burrell will put on an advanced screening of an upcoming “Modern Family” episode at 7 p.m. on Oct. 28, then take part in a 20-minute Q&A session.
