There’s a new option for ride hailing in Arlington, and plans for a $75 million Pentagon Memorial education center move to the next phase.
New commuting option in Arlington
In June Arlington residents may have noticed an interesting-looking black car/minibus driving the streets along the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor with the name Sprynt written across the sides. This new startup is taking on Uber and Lyft but is doing so using a slightly different business model. First, the vehicles are electric. Second, advertising is slated to be their main financing mode where advertisements are displayed through an in-vehicle iPad, on the company’s mobile app or through car-wrap ads. Sprynt is currently servicing a small area but has plans to expand.
Pentagon Memorial Visitor Education Center moves forward with plans
After 9/11 a memorial to honor those killed at the Pentagon moved through the process of construction quickly with a memorial and reflection garden at the site. Now plans for a companion education center are moving forward with the selection of Fentress Architects, a Denver-based firm that also designed the Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, to design the $75 million education center that is slated to be over 100,000 square feet and include exhibit space, classrooms, auditorium, sky terrace, reflection room and office space.
