Northern Virginia’s latest developments include funding for Loudoun Museum and the groundbreaking ceremony for new I-66 HOT lanes.
Loudoun Museum Gets Hail Mary Funding
The County Board of Supervisors agreed in a July meeting to continue funding the small museum in Leesburg. After funding was cut last year, museum officials said they were looking to close. The county stepped in with more funding, but it’s not enough. Museum board members have now been tasked with either raising $3,000 each or paying that sum themselves to keep the museum open.
I-66 HOT Lanes and Expansion
A groundbreaking ceremony was held Aug. 1 for the HOT lanes on I-66, a $60 million project from the Beltway to the Lee Highway exit in Rosslyn. The plan also calls for I-66 to be partially widened with an extra lane to be built within the existing eastbound right-of-way from the Dulles Connector Road to the Fairfax Drive exit in Ballston.
American Tap Room Closes Abruptly
Saturday, July 29, Arlington’s American Tap Room was open for business, serving customers as usual. The next day, a sign was on the door stating the establishment was closed. And it seems the employees didn’t even know. The sign read: “Employees can stop by Monday or Tuesday for information on other locations and Pay Checks [sic].”
