U.S. closes out 2016 Olympics with 121 medals; Donald Trump appears at rally in Fredericksburg

The 2016 summer Olympics concluded at Sunday’s closing ceremony in Rio de Janeiro where gymnast Simone Biles carried the U.S. flag for her team. The U.S. led the games with 121 medals overall, including 46 gold, 37 silver and 38 bronze. The U.S. was trailed by China’s 70 and the U.K.’s 67 medals.

The year for many DMV schools begins this week. While Culpeper and Manassas Park City public schools’ sessions began earlier this month, Fauquier County public schools’ first day is Wednesday. Loudoun County, Manassas City, Prince William County and other NoVA schools will kick off the 2016-2017 term in the coming weeks.
