This contemporary romance novel, the third in the Pine Mountain series from Manassas-based Kimberly Kincaid, tells the story of a writer who has lost her way and a restaurant general manager who is dealing with his teen half-sister after the loss of their mother. The cash-strapped writer grudgingly takes on the job of babysitter for the teen and finds herself getting comfortable with the domestic life, and the restaurant general manager. (October 2014)

by Rebecca Frankel
Palgrave MacMillan
Rebecca Frankel has found a connecting factor of Americans at home and soldiers at war oversees: dogs. (“When we cannot make that human connection over war … we can still understand what it means to love a dog.”) Frankel took a year to learn the heroic stories of war dogs and their handlers as they fought in wars ranging from the World Wars and Vietnam to Operation Iraqi Freedom and today: the bond that kept soldiers grounded and the effectiveness of the dogs to keep those soldiers safe. ‘Somewhere Safe With Somebody Good’
by Jan Karon
Putnam Adult
Sometimes a feel good book is in order. No murder. No plotting. No drama. Jan Karon returns, after almost a decade hiatus, with the tenth book in the Mitford series. Father Tim Kavanagh is back in the cozy town of Mitford and he is attempting to settle into his retirement status. The town’s characters are brought back from previous books allowing the reader, and the small-town plot line, to continue on with Father Tim who is still finding a way to help out those in need. You will laugh, you will cry. (September 2014)
