Five-Free Polishes: Worth the Hype?
‘Five-free’ polishes have gained traction within the last couple of years, but many are still asking if the formulas are worth the hype. Five of the more harmful chemicals found in traditional polishes—formaldehyde, DBP, Toluene, Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor—are said to cause cancer, developmental defects, skin irritation and nausea. Many popular brands have dropped them from their formulas for chic, long-lasting colors sans potential harmful side effects. Kitiya King, founder of local five-free polish brand Mischo Beauty, shares her favorite picks for spring.
