One NoVA locality led the region in luxury home sales in the second quarter of the year. According to a new report from BrightMLS, McLean’s 22101 zip code had the most luxury home sales in BrightMLS’ service area.
McLean had 76 luxury home sales in Q2. These sales are defined as homes in the top 5% of the market. They accounted for more than half of the locality’s 144 total sales.
Several other localities in the area ranked highly on the luxury home sales list as well, including:
- Haymarket (No. 3) with 48 homes
- DC’s 20016 zip code (No. 4) with 43 homes
- Vienna, (No. 5) with 42 homes
- DC’s 20007 zip code No. 6), with 39 homes
The overall Washington, DC, region has a benchmark of about $1,900,000 to be considered “luxury.” That’s a 5.6% increase from last year.
Luxury Market Is Thriving
BrightMLS makes note that “estimates along the Potomac River in Virginia were in high demand in the second quarter of 2026.” The most expensive home sold in the coverage area over this time period was 1169 Crest Ln.in McLean, which sold for $12.825 million.
BrightMLS says that in its full coverage area, there were 3,256 total luxury sales, up 1.8% from a year ago.
“The luxury market has been stronger than the overall Mid-Atlantic market, as high-income buyers are less sensitive to elevated mortgage rates and benefit from greater economic security,” the report said. “Luxury sales would be even higher still, except that high-end buyers are finding very little inventory.”
