On the Market: This Prince Street Townhome Has a Private, Secret Garden-esque Courtyard

Not sure what exactly, but something magic has to have happened here between these walls.

By Laura Scudder April 12, 2022 at 5:16 pm

On the market in the 100 block of Prince St. in Alexandria is a townhome close to local shops and the waterfront, putting everything you need within walking distance. Known as Captain’s Row, the block draws its name from the 18th century sea captains who docked their ships at the Alexandria wharves and built their row homes here — and this block holds the title of the oldest cobblestone block in the city.

A 2017 full renovation of the townhome at 102 Prince St. is shown throughout, from the new double pane windows to the beamed and coffered ceilings, but its Federal-period charm isn’t lost — just check out the entry foyer or the gas lanterns on the front of the home.

This one-bedroom, one-and-a-half bathroom space is on the market for just under $1.4 million. With nearly 1,400 square feet of space, a loft and spectacular garden view make the luxurious space functional and beautiful in one.

While its easy to spot the gas fireplace with a heatilator in this living room space, there’s more to it than meets the eye — cabinetry hides a television, which can be brought out at a moment’s notice. Whether you want to host a fancier gathering or channel surf, this home has just the place to do it.

This kitchen is sure to impress all who set eyes on it. From the Italian porcelain floors and custom, soft-close cabinets to the wall oven and built-in microwave, you can find fashion and function in this all-white spectacular space. Grab a seat at the dining table under the beamed ceilings and Viking chandelier as you enjoy a homemade meal.

Wood floors and a vaulted ceiling accentuate the townhome’s primary bedroom. With a full bath attached, it’s easy to settle in to the one bedroom offered in this location. The room is complete with space for multiple dressers and extra seating.

The home’s singular full bathroom is an all-white spectacular, adorned with a checkered tile floor. A spacious shower and pedestal sink inhabit the space, and abundant storage is available for any toiletries and linens.

A slate patio leads into the totally private brick-walled garden, complete with a fountain. This outdoor space is ideal for looks and use: The brick complements the greenery and florals placed throughout, and the stunning covered porch makes a great space for entertaining and relaxing thanks to its comfortable seating.
