With the constant development that Northern Virginia experiences, it seems like there are new building projects everyday. We’ve rounded up some of the biggest projects that could make a big splash in NoVA this year.
Muse, Alexandria
These luxury condominiums in Old Town Alexandria are set to open this spring. The first floor of the complex will be completely occupied by Muse creative studios, where artisans and craftspeople, both professionals and beginners, can come to practice their craft. Amenities at this extravagant complex include fitness studios, access to the Mount Vernon hiking and biking trail, and even a pet spa. Condo prices range from $800,000 to $2.9 million. 1201 N. Reston Town Center, Fairfax County
After 35 months of construction, Clark Construction Group put the finishing touches on the next phase of Boston Properties’ Reston Town Center . This phase brought two new buildings with a combined 1.4 million square footage in office space to the area. The two lead tenants for the new buildings are Fannie Mae and Volkswagen Group of America. Lorton Community Center and Library, Fairfax County
With a combined funding of over $27 million, the new Lorton Community Center and Library are set to be completed by this summer. The project includes a renovation and addition of 6,000 square feet to the already 10,000 square foot library, as well as a completely new 30,000-square-foot single-story community center. Kaiser Permanente Caton Hill
Kaiser Permanente’s new five-story, state-of-the-art medical center in Woodbridge is slated to open this June. Just off I-95, the facility will not only include Kaiser Permanente primary care doctors, but over ten other specialties as well. 13285 Minnieville Rd., Woodbridge
Boulevard VI, Fairfax
Minutes from the Beltway and Old Town Fairfax, The Flats at Boulevard VI is a new luxury apartment complex in Fairfax City. The complex is built over the historic former Paul VI Catholic high school building, to whom it owes its name. Amenities include an outdoor pool, a series of trails surrounding the complex, and rideshare waiting areas right outside the lobby. The Flats at University, Fairfax
Located just north of George Mason University, this recently built student housing complex is now leasing for the 2022-2023 school year. It is the first off-campus housing complex for the university. Amenities for this student-focused complex include a 24-hour clubhouse, a resort-style pool, and individual study pods. Rates start at $874 per month. 10378 Willard Way, Fairfax
Manassas Park City Hall
Phase three of Manassas Park’s development project brings a new city hall building, a new library, and 300 condominiums to the downtown area. Set to be completed this summer, the ground floor of the 51,000 square foot city hall building will house the new library and additional retail space. Northern Virginia Bioscience Center, Prince William County
Home to one of the fastest-growing biotechnology sectors in the DC area, Prince William County is expanding further with the Northern Virginia Bioscience Center. Opening to the public in April, this 30,000-square-foot wet lab facility will house the research of companies who are on the cutting-edge of science and technology in NoVA. Labs start at 980 square feet, and will host the research of companies like ATCC and Corning Mediatech. 11225 Assett Loop, Manassas
Virginia Hospital Center, Arlington
Virginia Hospital Center’s new 245,000 outpatient center will boast physical and aquatic therapy rooms, surgery and endoscopy treatments rooms, and women’s imaging suites, as well as a now-finished 6-story parking garage. After the outpatient center opens, more than 100 beds can be added to their main building. The center is set to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2023. 1701 N. George Mason Dr., Arlington
Didlake Headquarters, Manassas
This nonprofit that assists people with disabilities in finding employment has demolished their former one-story headquarters in Manassas, and made room for a three-story, 44,000 square foot headquarters in its place. The new building will have sustainable features, including locally sourced and recycled materials. The new construction will also include a 15,000-square-foot support services building for Didlake.
