Tickets Are on Sale for the Historic Alexandria Homes Tour

Early-bird pricing for the September 26 event ends July 31.

Don’t miss the opportunity to see some of Northern Virginia’s most historic properties. Tickets to the Historic Alexandria Homes Tour are now on sale. The event is planned for Saturday, September 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Historic Alexandria Homes Tour began in 1941. It was originally hosted by the Hospital’s Senior Auxiliary to raise money for Alexandria Hospital, now Inova Alexandria Hospital.

The event is now hosted by The Twig, The Junior Auxiliary of Inova Alexandria Hospital. Funds raised through ticket sales help fund patient care, medical equipment, and health care initiatives at Inova Alexandria. According to The Twig, the organization has contributed more than $7 million since 1933.

Visitors do not know which homes are included until the morning of the tour. “The homes are kept a secret until tour day — discovering them is part of the fun,” The Twig says on its website. “A modest exterior can open into rooms full of curated art, collections and English gardens. It’s a rare chance to step inside Alexandria’s living history.”

Early-bird tickets are $45 through July 31 and increase to $50 on August 1. Ticket sales close on September 10.

Tickets includes admission to all featured homes, a printed tour book, and complimentary admission on tour day to the Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum.

Guests may visit the homes in any order between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Volunteer docents will be stationed throughout each residence to share architectural details and historical information. Ticket pickup locations will be announced in the coming weeks.
