Grain & Grog Opens in Gainesville

The Gainesville tavern will have beers on tap and a menu of American fare.

By Colleen Kelleher October 4, 2024 at 10:00 am

The taps will flow Saturday as Grain & Grog holds its grand opening in Gainesville.

“The wait is finally over! Our Grand Opening is happening on October 5th! Be prepared for an unforgettable day of fun, food, and music! We are super excited to welcome you all!” Grain & Grog writes on its Facebook page.

The 90-seat tavern on Crescent Park Drive features beers on tap and an American fare menu. Diners will be able to try a Monte Cristo sandwich, bean burger sliders, and a classic club sandwich. New York strip steak, Baja fish tacos, and maple bourbon BBQ pork chops are among the entrées.

The beverage menu includes cocktails like the Naughty Grog, a combination of rum, coffee liqueur, and Lost Rhino root beer with a heavy cream float, and The Siren, which has Ciroc Peach vodka with lemon, agave simple syrup, and soda water. Fans of mules won’t be disappointed. There are six choices on the menu.

The tavern is the joint venture of hospitality veterans Mikey Love and Steven Chandler and their spouses.

“We decided we wanted to do something together between our two families,” Chandler said in May about the “neighborhood-style” they wanted to create.

The owners hope to create a community hub, and yes, it will be a place where you can watch football on Sundays. It will have live music on Friday and Saturday nights.

Love says the restaurant’s “main schtick” will be “superior ingredients and customer service.”

Based on comments posted on the restaurant’s Facebook page, Gainesville is looking forward to the new spot.

For now, the restaurant is not taking reservations, but may in the coming months. 7960 Crescent Park Dr., Gainesville
