Colada Shop Hosts Grand Opening of New National Landing Location

Fun giveaways and delicious Cuban food await at the newest NoVA outpost.

By Maggie Roth September 6, 2024 at 9:27 am

A new Colada Shop will open its doors on Monday, September 9, with a grand opening in National Landing. Head to the new store throughout the week to score freebies like a tote bag and free treats.

The new space is at 244 19th Ct., Arlington, on the ground floor of JBG Smith’s new Grace and Reva apartment complex. It’s among the first of several planned retail tenants to open on the ground floor, along with Van Leeuwen Ice Cream and Bar Colline, from the owners behind Café Colline.

Diners can expect to find the same vibrant décor and delicious food they’ve come to expect from the local chain. There’s a mix of indoor and outdoor space, including a spacious patio that accommodates around 60 guests.

On the menu, expect to see new seasonal offerings rolled out at all locations this week. For fall, Colada Shop is focusing its attention on sweet potatoes; the ingredient pops up in a mushroom and boniato (a type of Cuban sweet potato) empanada, croquetas, a seasonal caldero, a coconut-based soup, and chocolate chip muffins with sweet potato and banana. It’s even incorporated in the orange raspadura and boniato latte.

Stop by opening week to take advantage of the opening giveaways.

  • Monday, September 9: The first 50 guests will get a free Colada Shop tote bag with a purchase.
  • Wednesday, September 11: Get a free house spritzer with the purchase of any entrée.
  • Friday, September 13: Get a free empanada with the purchase of a cocktail during happy hour.
  • Sunday, September 15: Face painting will be available from 3 to 5 p.m.

This is the third Colada Shop in Northern Virginia, joining the Clarendon spot and the smaller “cafecito” in the Mosaic District’s Bloomie’s store.
