Looking for a great selection of wine when you go out for dinner? Wine Spectator announced its 2024 Restaurant Awards on Tuesday, highlighting the best restaurants in the world for wine — and there are 31 winners in Northern Virginia.

The Restaurant Awards have three levels: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence, and the Grand Award. This year, there are 2,150; 1,531; and 96 winners around the world in each respective category.

The Inn at Little Washington is the only restaurant in Virginia to earn a place on the magazine’s Grand Award winners. Wine Spectator noted that “the team is constantly seeking cutting-edge wines from up-and-coming producers to enhance the 2,200-label list.”

Six NoVA restaurants won the Best Award of Excellence, including Barcelona Wine Bar in Reston; Fahrenheit 132 in Fredericksburg; Pazzo Pomodoro’s locations in Vienna and Ashburn; The Ashby Inn & Restaurant in Paris; and The Conservatory at Goodstone in Middleburg.

Another 25 NoVA restaurants received the Award of Excellence: 1799 Prime Steak & Seafood in Alexandria; Alias in Warrenton; Bottle Stop Wine Bar in Occoquan; Carmello’s in Manassas; Chima Steakhouse in Vienna; Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse in Reston; Echelon Wine Bar in Leesburg; Eddie Merlot’s in Ashburn; Eddie V’s Prime Seafood in McLean; Field & Main Restaurant in Marshall; Fogo de Chão in McLean and Reston; Harrimans Grill in Middleburg; Heirloom in Reston; Lightfoot Restaurant in Leesburg; Morton’s, The Steakhouse, in Arlington and Reston; SER Restaurant in Arlington; Seasons 52 in McLean;  The Capital Grille in McLean and Fairfax; The Palm Tysons Corner in McLean; The Red Fox Inn & Tavern in Middleburg; Trio Grill in Falls Church; and Tuscarora Mill in Leesburg.

“The restaurant industry is growing and thriving, with restaurant openings surpassing pre-pandemic levels for the first time. To take advantage of the uptick, restaurateurs are investing in their wine programs,” said Marvin R. Shanken, the editor and publisher of Wine Spectator, in a statement.

The wine strengths for each restaurant were also noted, with 18 of the 67 restaurants in the commonwealth being recognized for the strength of their offerings of Virginia wine.
