Little Beast Café & Bistro in Reston Closing Next Week

A new restaurant will open at the Reston location in spring.

By Colleen Kelleher December 15, 2023 at 1:28 pm

Reston’s Little Beast Café & Bistro and the Red Velvet Cupcakery plans to close permanently on Saturday, December 23.

“We are so appreciative of your endless enthusiastic support over the last couple of years!” said a message from the the café. “It has been our greatest pleasure providing you with great pizza, delicious drinks, and decadent cupcakes. In an increasingly difficult climate to run a small business, you have made all of our efforts and long hours worth it.”

The Little Beast Café & Bistro, which also has a location in Chevy Chase, Maryland, is known for its Detroit-style pizza with a bubbly crust. Naomi Gallego, who was promoted to head chef last month, created the crust’s recipe.

The Gordon Food Group said to watch the Reston location at 12100 Sunset Hills Rd. in spring.

“A delicious new locally owned restaurant is opening in our space with many of our awesome team members staying on! Pizza, sandwiches, craft beer — it will be right up your taste buds,” the post said. “We hope to see you before we close, and once again when we open in spring.”

The owner of the new restaurant is an alum of Lost Dog Café and Maplewood Grill, said Kristen Brabrook, general manager for Little Beast Café and Red Velvet.

The Chevy Chase restaurant at 5600 Wisconsin Ave. remains open for pizza and cupcakes.

Earlier this month, Little Beast’s Chevy Chase location closed its daytime café and bakery. Owner Aaron Gordon told Eater in DC that space was too small to handle dinner on top of the café. It now opens at 5 p.m. for dinner, and starting on January 4 will have a full brunch, with pizza, Friday through Sunday.
