Taqueria Loca opened in April in the former Plaza Azteca space in Sterling, but now there’s much more for Great American Restaurants fans to love at 45990 Waterview Plaza. The goal: To end arguments among family members about where to eat. When it opens tomorrow, Oct. 1, Good Eats Emporium will hold four GAR concepts in one building.
The day begins at Good Eats Emporium with the 8 a.m. opening of Best Buns Bakery & Café. There, diners can rise to a breakfast of egg-and-cheese sandwiches on icebox bread or a croissant. There’s also a range of baked goods including cinnamon buns and GAR’s much ballyhooed Ozzie Rolls. There are even homemade dog biscuits “to feed the faithful.”
The other three concepts open at 11:30 a.m. each day. Good Eats Burgers & Wings has a simple menu of exactly what’s in its name. Wings are fried or smoked, then grilled, and tossed in any sauce the diner chooses, including Alabama-style white sauce. A fried chicken sandwich joins the burgers and wings, spread with Pommery mustard on a brioche bun.
Taqueria Loca does serve the tacos its name suggests, but also fajitas, tostadas and salads. There are chicken meals featuring either a half chicken or a whole chicken for a family meal that includes chips and salsa, rice and beans and “churros,” actually cinnamon-sugar-crusted Ozzie Rolls with chocolate dipping sauce.
Finally, the first location of Stupid Good BBQ offers platters and sandwiches centered around smoked meat. Those include brisket, spare ribs, chicken, pulled pork and two kinds of sausage. The brisket also appears atop nachos. Among the sides, there’s mac and cheese, homemade pickles, charro beans and corn bread.
Good Eats Emporium also has a full bar that offers beer and wine, as well as cocktails including margaritas (we’re especially curious about the smoked pineapple version), a Bacon Maple Bourbon Smash and a Moscow Mule.
Both indoor and outdoor seating are available at Good Eats Emporium, but for those not yet ready to venture out, the GAR app allows diners to order for pickup or delivery.
