The Local Candy and Chocolate Stores That Will Satisfy Any Sweet Tooth

Skip the candy aisle at the grocery store and opt for these sweets just in time for Halloween.

Updated September 20, 2022. Chocolate cravings and sweet tooth indulgences are inevitable the closer we get to trick-or-treating season. Instead of dipping into your Halloween candy, treat yourself to handcrafted and locally made chocolate and candy treats from these nearby shops.

Artisan Confections

Chocolate and art combine at Arlington’s contemporary chocolate shop. With candies that are too pretty to eat, take home a box of brightly colored bonbons or indulge with everyday sweets, like caramels and turtles. 1025 N. Fillmore St., Ste. H, Arlington

Cocoa Vienna

Freshness is the key for Cocoa Vienna. With over 60 varieties of handmade truffles, ganaches, chocolate-covered treats, and thousands of molds, you can pick the best confection that fits your mood and occasion. 120 Church St. NE, Ste. 100, Vienna

Fleurir Chocolates

If you’re looking to stock up your late-night snack drawer, pick up some natural chocolates at Fleurir. The beautiful contemporary designs on the truffles come in 16 different flavors, but make sure you don’t overlook the shop’s wine bars, which are perfect for a weekend tasting. 110 S. Payne St., Alexandria

River-Sea Chocolates

A staple in NoVA for the past four years, River-Sea works with small farms in South America and Asia to import cacao beans for its unique flavors. Whether you are looking for seasonal finds (hello, pumpkin coconut chai pie bar!) or want to stock up on chocolate bars for the holiday, you’ll be able to fill your shopping needs while helping small businesses throughout the world. 4520 Daly Dr., Ste. 100, Chantilly

Shenandoah Fine Chocolates

Handmade is the name of the game at this sweets shop. With around 70 percent of their chocolate treats made at the store, you can expect the freshest caramels, turtles, barks, and truffles every time you walk through the door. 3111 Valley Ave., Ste. 110, Winchester

Sweet Sheep Candy & Wonder Emporium

This Fredericksburg confection store is everything your candy-loving heart could ever dream of. When you first walk in, you’ll realize just how much candy the shop has: Barrels, cases, and containers with sweet treats are spread throughout the store. With candy, jelly beans, fudge, and taffy, you might have trouble picking what to bring home. 211 William St., Fredericksburg

Sweet Society

Your inner child is sure to come out when you walk through the doors of Sweet Society. The candy boutique is making all of your sweet dreams come true with chocolate- and caramel-covered nutter butters, candy apples, chocolate-covered marshmallows, and much more. 15100 Potomac Town Pl., Ste. 100, Woodbridge
