Get a Taste of Northern Virginia’s Newest Breweries and Tap Rooms

Pull up a stool and grab a pint at one of these breweries that have opened in the past year.

Northern Virginia is chock-full of craft breweries, serving up the hoppy, the hazy, the fruited, and everything in between to crowds of beer lovers. And the scene keeps expanding, with more and more neighborhood brewers popping up across the region. To them we say, the more the merrier. Next time you’re in the mood for a good local beer that you can’t find in the grocery store, check out these new breweries in NoVA.

Brightworks Brewing Co.

This new nano-brewery in Manassas began its soft-opening phase on June 8, and it will have a grand opening and longer hours beginning July 4. Through June, beer enthusiasts can try a margarita-inspired Gose, a hazy IPA, an American porter, and an oatmeal cookie brown ale. It’s a family-friendly space, with video games and a toddler friendly zone to entertain little ones. 9776 Center St., Manassas

Commonwealth Brewing Co.

Since opening in fall 2023, this Old Town Fairfax brewery has been abuzz with beer enthusiasts. This is the second location of the Virginia Beach–based brewery. Here, you’ll find an expansive tap list with flavorful IPAs and sours, plus cocktails on tap and a dining menu with pizzas, snacks, and sandwiches. In addition to its roomy interior, the brewery boasts a large outdoor space overlooking Main Street. 10426 Main St., Fairfax

Lark Brewing Co.

This farm brewery opened its doors in April, offering up a versatile tap list and accompanying food menu. It’s all served in a spacious Loudoun County facility, with an airy indoor taproom, two outdoor pavilions, plus a pavilion, game space, courtyard, and porch. 24205 James Monroe Hwy., Aldie

Silver Branch Brewing Co.

This Maryland brewer expanded to NoVA in fall 2023, providing American and European-style beers to Old Town Warrenton. There are staple brews, like the Cloud Nine wheat ale, that are always available, plus seasonals like the Landbier amber lager. Stop by for events like Trivia Tuesdays and comedy shows. 56 E. Lee St., Warrenton

Starr Hill Brewpub at Capital One Center

Starr Hill expanded with a new brewpub in May at the ground level of Capital One Tower, encompassing over 7,500 square feet of space. The menu features many craft brews, including the Roxanne, a raspberry American sour. Two cocktails, an espresso martini and an Aperol spritz, are on draft as well. 7730 Capital One Tower Rd., Tysons

Atlas Brew Works

You might recognize this brewery from its original DC location or its cans sold in retail stores throughout NoVA. A new, 6,000-square-foot outpost opens on June 21 in the Carlyle Crossing mixed-use development, complete with a 1,500-square-foot outdoor patio. It will also offer pizza from Andy’s Pizza. 2429 Mandeville Ln., Alexandria
