Girl Scout cookie season just got even better. Throughout Northern Virginia, wineries and breweries have used their knowledge of flavor profiles, tannins, and all things yummy to figure out what beer or wine pairs best with the classic cookies, from Thin Mints to Samoas. At these tasting events, you can taste your way through an assortment of the nostalgic treats, each paired with a carefully curated beverage to complement it.
The Winery at Bull Run
Through February 29
If wine is more your speed, this winery has the pairings for you. Sample five Bull Run wines selected by the winery’s curator, paired with five different types of cookies. These are wines that aren’t typically offered in tastings, so it’s a special treat. The Winery at Bull Run: 15950 Lee Hwy., Centreville, $25
Axes and Os
March 1, 7 p.m.
This ax-throwing bar will offer a chance to taste four Girl Scout cookies with four 6-ounce pours of beer or four 4-ounce pours of wine — you can even mix and match wine and beer depending on the cookie combination. There will be staff on hand and a printed guide to walk you through the experience. Axes and Os: 21680 Ridgetop Cir., Ste. 125, Sterling, $25
Ono Brewing Company
March 2 and 3
At Ono Brewing, a sample pack of five Girl Scout cookies comes with a pairing suggestion sheet that recommends the beers that would complement each snack’s flavors. Follow the guide or carve your own path by creating your own flight with one of Ono’s craft brews. From 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Girl Scouts will be on site to sell some boxes to enjoy at home. 4520 Daly Dr., Ste. 102, Chantilly
Rudy’s Golf and Sports Bar
March 28, 7 p.m.
The team at Rudy’s will guide you through a tasting of four 6-ounce pours of local beer, paired with treats like Thin Mints, Tagalongs, and Samoas.
