First Bite Review: Sixty Vines Brings Wine and More to Reston

You may come for the 60 wines on tap, but find out what our critic says you need to try on the food menu.

Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or a teetotaler, make a date to visit Sixty Vines at Reston Town Center. The wine country–inspired setting offers 60 wines on tap for tasting in 2.5-ounce-, 5-ounce-, 8-ounce-, or a 750-mililiter carafe pours.

Expect a spacious, comfortable restaurant, complete with long communal tables perfect for girls’ nights or family dinners. Multi-height tables and counters accommodate date nights and smaller parties. Peruse the eclectic wine list, representing domestic vineyards as well as wine from Argentina, Italy, Spain, France, and South Africa. A 5-ounce glass of any varietal will run you between $8 and $28.

The food is just plain fun. Order crowd-worthy charcuterie boards that range from $6 to $30. Or choose several interesting shared plates, salads, pizzas, pastas, and main dishes. Meat and cheese boards arrive artfully displayed, accompanied by warm pita slices and seductively sweet honey. Crispy Brussels sprouts flaunt a fragrant kung pao vinaigrette, scallions, and crunchy cashews. You could stop right here; the starters and boards are filling, but power on to sample more.

Our party inhaled the double cabernet burger and gave a nod of approval to the housemade meat adorning our spicy sausage pizza. Everything had that extra something, even the house salad’s candied walnuts took it from perfectly fine to wow. Entrées run between $17 and $62.

If by some miracle you have room for dessert, we suggest the sticky toffee cake, topped with crème anglaise and pineapple. The rich rum cake magically soaks up indulgent drizzle, but roasted pineapple brings a sweet, tart note.

Add Sixty Vines to your must-try list, and bring a crowd. The gang will love the vibe, the vino, and the variety.
