Sonic Drive-In Plans to Open in Dumfries

While Sonic has two locations in NoVA, this would be the first along the I-95 corridor.

By Colleen Kelleher May 22, 2024 at 10:36 am

Sonic Drive-In wants to open a new restaurant in Dumfries, its first along Interstate 95 in NoVA.

The 14,000-square-foot restaurant would have two drive-thru lanes, 12 pull-up ordering stalls, and a dining patio. The fast-food restaurant would be part of the second phase of Barracks Row at Quantico, a development under construction in the I-95 corridor at Route 234/Dumfries Road, according to the Washington Business Journal.

According to the application, the location at 4115 Talon Dr. “will constitute a flagship Sonic design that will serve as a benchmark for future restaurant drive-thru development,” said the Washington Business Journal.

Sonic Drive-In’s restaurants feature a retro feel. The chain sells burgers and fries, and is known for its variety of shakes. It has locations at 10850 Promenade Ln. in Manassas and 524 Trimble Plz. SE in Leesburg.
