Check Out These 20 New Restaurants and Cafés in Northern Virginia

Earmark these new eateries for cozy winter dining.

Close out 2023 by sampling some of the intriguing new culinary offerings in Northern Virginia. Whether you’re seeking a cozy café loaded with bakery treats, authentic Asian additions, or affordable Latin American street food, look no further than this hot-off-the-press list of new restaurants. 

Open Now:

Annandale 

To Sok Jip 

This traditional Korean restaurant reopened after a fire destroyed its old location. To Sok Jip serves authentic Korean cuisine, including street food dishes. Stop by for kimchi jeongol, bibimbap, and bulgogi. 7123 Columbia Pk., Annandale 

Alexandria 

Jet’s Pizza

This popular Michigan chain opened its first Northern Virginia location in Alexandria and has plans to bring its Detroit-style pizza to other parts of NoVA soon. This pizza offers a thick crust in a rectangular shape with a crunchy crust. Jet’s makes some unusual toppings like a BLT version and will let you add flavor to the crust with options including Cajun seasoning. 6 E. Glebe Rd., Alexandria 

Centreville 

Hong Kong Tea House 

This milk tea shop offers Hong Kong–style street food, including Kowloon burritos, popcorn chicken, street chicken skewers, fried pork, and Nanjing chicken wings. Liquid refreshments are expansive, with smoothies like sweet taro or black sesame, milk tea with boba, fruit tea, and lattes. 5965 Centreville Crest Ln., Centreville  

Chantilly

Jollibee 

After numerous delays, fans of Jollibee will be thrilled to learn the Chantilly location, the second in NoVA, is now open. Jollibee is a Filipino fast-food chain with 1,500 outlets worldwide, specializing in fried chicken, burgers, and a specialty spaghetti dish topped with sweet sauce, ham, and pieces of hot dog. Dig into a crispy chicken sandwich, a burger steak, or try Jollibee’s fruity peach mango pie. 4406 Chantilly Shopping Center, Chantilly

Sushi Ohayo 

Stop by this new full-service Japanese restaurant in Chantilly for all-you-can-eat hibachi and sushi. Get fresh, authentic cuisine for a fixed price of $25.99 for adults and $13.99 for kids age 4 to 10. The menu features hibachi bento boxes, sushi, sashimi, appetizers, soups, and salad. 14410 Chantilly Crossing Ln., Chantilly 

Fairfax

Explore the diverse flavors of Southeast Asia at this Fairfax dining spot. Whether it’s Thai or Malaysian, you’ll have lots of tempting options. Check out satays, tom yum soups, panang curry, drunken noodles, Singapore noodles, or pineapple fried rice — you’re flush with compelling cuisine. 9530 Fairfax Blvd., Fairfax 

Falls Church 

Kyura Men Falls Church 

Get your ramen fix at this authentic Japanese ramen dining experience. The menu has nine versions, all featuring fresh, fragrant soup bases. Non-ramen options include omurice and a variety of rice burgers. This is the chain’s first Virginia location. 918 W. Broad St., Falls Church 

Herndon 

Paris Baguette

Paris Baguette’s newest location at the Arrowbrook Centre opened on November 30. The bakery brings a huge assortment of cakes, pastries, breads, and sandwiches, plus coffee and tea, to the neighborhood. The official grand opening is scheduled for December 15. 2324 Silver Arrow Way, Herndon 

Manassas 

Honey & Ivy

A gluten-free bakery that started with a farmers market stand now has a brick-and-mortar location in Old Town Manassas. The bakery offers a wide variety of treats including breads, cookies, pies, and cakes that are safe for people with celiac disease. 9105 Center St., Manassas 

McLean 

Otosan Ramen 

Enjoy authentic Japanese Hokkaido ramen at this spot for warm comfort food. Slurp up five versions of the noodle soup, including spicy miso, tofu in a vegetable broth, classic tonkotsu, black garlic tonkotsu, and shoyu ramen.  Each bowl is full of toppings like pork belly, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and nori seaweed. 6813 Elm St., McLean 

Reston

LOOK Dine-In Cinema 

Reston Town Center’s eats and entertainment options expand with this new dine-in movie destination. The menu is complemented by craft cocktails and traditional movie-theater snack staples. Indulge in a big screen blockbuster while savoring fresh salads, burgers, pizza, mac and cheese, edamame, and nachos. 11940 Market St., Reston

Tatte Bakery & Café

Tatte Bakery & Café’s newest outpost opened in Reston Town Center on November 29. The bakery offers an all-day menu with both breakfast and lunch items, including baked goods, quiche, egg dishes, sandwiches, tartines, and soups. This is the Boston-based company’s 11th location in the DMV area. 11910 Market St., Reston

Maizal Latin Street Food

Be transported to Latin America with an array of empanadas, tacos, quesadillas, and nachos for every palate. The chain, which opened in Reston in November, offers a variety of bowls, burritos, and arepas in “chef-curated” combinations, or you can build your own. Stop in for a fast and nutritious meal, complete with chips and guac. 11690 Plaza America Dr., Reston 

Taim 

Build your own fresh bowl, pita, or salad exactly as you like it at this Mediterranean casual-dining chain. When building a meal, diners can choose from mains like roasted meatballs, chicken, and meatless options including falafel, eggplant, and Impossible kebabs. 11692 Plaza America Dr., Reston  

Sterling 

Chi Mc Sterling

This is one of five locations of the local Korean restaurant. With a name that means “chicken and beer” in Korean, it specializes in fried chicken with either soy garlic or hot sauce, and also serves dishes like bulgogi buns, pork belly buns, sticky ribs, and kimchi slaw. Wash down the meal with a beer or Korean soju. 21950 Cascades Pkwy. Ste. 155, Sterling 

Honor Brewing 

Veteran-owned Honor Brewing honors veterans in its three NoVA locations, including this newest spot in Sterling.  The brewery offers craft beer and cocktails, plus a full food menu to feed hungry guests. Try barbecue meats smoked with the classic lager, pub-food snacks, salads, sandwiches, burgers, and pizzas. Honor Brewing Company was the Best of NoVA winner for best brewpub in 2023. 42604 Trade W. Vienna

Check out this new Chinese eatery in Vienna, offering classic dishes like lo mein, fried rice, Kung Pao chicken, Mongolian beef, Hunan shrimp, and Moo Shui pork. 2240 E. Gallows Rd., Vienna

The Maple Room 

A new American restaurant and lounge opened in Vienna on November 26, in the space previously occupied by Amphora Restaurant. The menu has a focus on high-end seafood and steak. In addition to dinner service, the new space has a lounge and full bar with small plates, wine, beer, and craft cocktails. The restaurant noted in a Facebook post that reservations are filling fast. 377 Maple Ave. W., Vienna 

Opening Soon

Arlington

Corso Italian

Cheesetique’s Shirlington location closed on November 22 and is slated to reopen in early December as Corso, an Italian-inspired restaurant and market. Owners describe the new spot as vibrant, chic, comfortable, and welcoming. Diners can expect to indulge in classics like fresh pasta and veal parm. 4024 Campbell Ave., Arlington 

Surreal 

A new Latin American restaurant from DC-based chef Enrique Limardo is tentatively set to open in National Landing on December 1, ARL Now reports. This restaurant is part of developer JBG SMITH’s Dining in the Park, which is just down the street from Water Park in Crystal City. 2121 Crystal Dr., Arlington
