There’s no arguing that Metropolitan Washington Summer Restaurant Week is one of the most wonderful times of the year. But the deals, prix-fixe menus for either $35 or $55 at dinner or $22 at lunch, have gotten even sweeter this time around. That’s because, for the first time, a to-go program with a variety of family-style offerings is available, as well as cocktail and wine pairings.
It’s great for diners and restaurants alike. And Restaurant Week, which actually lasts two weeks this summer, from Monday, Aug. 17 to Sunday, Aug. 30, is more important than ever as restaurants struggle to survive the pandemic. To help every restaurant that wants to participate to be able to achieve their goal, RAMW’s partners at Events DC and JBG SMITH are covering the cost of participation for any restaurant that’s interested.
“There is something for everyone and this cycle of Restaurant Week is designed to allow the fullest flexibility and options for diners and restaurants as they have to be able to operate in a dial-back or dial-up fashion,” says Kathy E. Hollinger, president and CEO of RAMW.
Restaurants can continue to sign up on a rolling basis, so there are still many being added each day. But there are already robust offerings throughout Northern Virginia. The highest concentrations of participating restaurants in our area are in Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Reston and Tysons.
Options range from modern Serbian food at Ambar in Clarendon to meaty Americana at Randy’s Prime Steaks & Seafood in Tysons. To see if your favorite restaurant has signed up yet, check the list here.
