With food holidays now taking over our lives—because National Taco Day certainly didn’t exist when I was growing up—it’s hard to keep track of what’s real and what’s made up by a publicist.

Established through the U.K.-based Vegetarian Society (established in 1847), this current stretch of days is known as National Vegetarian Week (not to be confused with World Vegetarian Day held every Oct. 1).

Here in NoVA, Trummer’s On Main (Clifton) is offering a three- and six-course tasting menu with dishes like sugar snap peas with tomatoes, white balsamic and mint; charcoal-roasted carrots with freekeh and cauliflower cream; and an eggplant schnitzel. Bastille (Alexandria) sent out a press release noting how the kitchen can modify certain dishes, like removing shrimp and calamari from a red quinoa tabbouleh and doubling the remaining portion.

Of course, it’s also National Barbecue Month and National Burger Month.
