Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at These 8 Northern Virginia Spots

Find live music, food and drink specials — and a best-dressed Chihuahua contest — at these NoVA establishments.

By Priya Konings April 30, 2026 at 7:00 am

Cinco de Mayo is all about celebrating Mexican culture, including Mexican food, art, and drinks. Enjoy the day at these events and specials throughout NoVA.

Austin Grill

For an all-day celebration packed with live music and lots of tequila, head to Austin Grill this Cinco de Mayo. Throughout the day the venue will have a live mariachi band, flamenco-inspired dancers, and acoustic guitarists for entertainment, specialty tequila cocktails, and plenty of tempting dishes from their menu including fajitas, tacos, and enchiladas. The best part? A Best Dressed Chihuahua Contest with prizes. We know we have your attention now. 20789 Great Falls Plaza, Ste. 162, Sterling

Fish Taco

Stop into one of Fish Taco’s two NoVA locations to try out its “Baja-inspired” tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and more. The restaurant is offering a deal of three street tacos (excluding seafood varieties) for $10. 930 W. Broad St., Falls Church; 1644 Boro Pl., McLean

Guapo’s

No place does Cinco de Mayo quite like Guapo’s restaurants. There will be Cinco de Mayo specials available at all three NoVA locations, but we recommend visiting Guapo’s in Shirlington, which will host the biggest party of them all. The event will be all-day inside the restaurant and out on the street in front, and will include frosty cold margaritas, a taco bar with all the fixings, a live DJ, and plenty of dancing. 4028 Campbell Ave., Arlington

Hi/Fi Tex-Mex BBQ

Hi/Fi Tex-Mex is hosting an epic Cinco de Mayo fiesta this year at the Del Ray location with Tex-Mex BBQ, new tostadas and burritos, and festive drink specials — including an exclusive Bluejacket El Honcho Mexican Lager brewed just for the occasion. The venue will also have classic and frozen mango margaritas available. 2000 Mount Vernon Ave., Alexandria

Matt & Tony’s

Matt & Tony’s has new Cinco de Mayo offerings this year including $10 margaritas, palomas, and tequila sunrises. Menu specials include $25 giant Mexican pizzas made with chili con carne, refried beans, black olives, crema, smoked cheddar, chopped tomato, and guajillo red sauce. 1501 Mt. Vernon Ave., Alexandria

Shipgarten

Shipgarten will be throwing a Cinco de Mayo party this year with a Jose Cuervo tequila tasting, a marshmallow toss where participants catch marshmallows with a sombrero, and a hot pepper eating contest. Dogs and kids are welcome, with dog treats like pup cups and face painting for kids. There will be plenty of food available for purchase, as well as special drinks like coconut margaritas. 7581 Colshire Dr., McLean

Taquería Xochi

Taqueria Xochi is celebrating Cinco de Mayo all week with a festive décor and “Xochi hours” which include discounts on margaritas, wines, beer, and food at both their Arlington and Navy Yard locations. Be sure to try an order of their Xochi fries which come with melted cheese, jalapeno cream, onions and cilantro. They are the perfect pairing for a cold margarita. 1450 S. Eads St., Ste. 32, Arlington

Taco Bamba

Chef Victor Albisu’s popular local chain of taquerias is rolling out new menu items for spring, just in time for Cinco de Mayo. Stop into one of the 10 NoVA locations to try a white peach ginger margarita, a Bamba Colada, a paloma, and sangria, plus a seasonal strawberries and cream churro. Multiple area locations
