What better way to spend a summer afternoon than by drinking a beer with a guinea pig’s face on it? The Animal Welfare League of Arlington has revealed the four winning pets from its Rescue Brew Contest, and those furry friends will appear on crowler cans of a limited-edition beer called Rescue Brew.
AWLA asked pet owners to submit photos of their pets for a chance to win, and voters selected their favorites. More than 180 pets were entered, and over 1,000 people participated. In all, the contest raised over $53,000 for the shelter.

The four winning pets that appear on the 32-ounce crowlers are:
- Jack Jack: “A 5-year-old Great Pyrenees and rescue success story. Jack is a 90-lb ‘lapdog’ who loves trading tricks for treats and announcing when the mail has arrived.”
- Bambi: “A senior cat and proud ‘kitizen’ who spends her days birdwatching, enjoying Churu treats, and relaxing on heated blankets.”
- Cilantro: “A 2.5-lb guinea pig and social media influencer who enjoys watching Grey’s Anatomy, snacking on cucumbers, and snuggling under blankets.”
- Popcorn (Poppy): “A golden retriever known for stealing rocks and giving stinky kisses. Poppy won the contest’s random drawing category.”

The crowlers of the four winning pets will be available at The Board Room Game Bar & Brewery. It’s $6 to purchase pints of Rescue Brew and $12 for a crowler.
The cans were unveiled at an event last night at The Board Room Game Bar & Brewery, where Paws and Joy Bakery handed out tasty samples for the four-legged companions.
