While we all love a classic burrito — filled with rice, beans, and cheese, maybe some guacamole — but that’s not all there is. Northern Virginia happens to be home to all kinds of creative riffs on the beloved dish. If you’re curious about sampling an Indian Mexican fusion version, a New Mexico–style burrito, or even a sushi version, read on!

Anita’s New-Mexican Burrito

With 10 spots around Northern Viriginia, Anita’s New Mexico–style burritos have become a local legend. They’re packed with classic ingredients including Spanish rice, refried beans, and a selection of proteins. They come doused in red or green chili sauce (or both!), which are famously made in New Mexico with hatch chilies and have a super smoky, earthy flavor. Some also include a generous heaping of queso for an extra-indulgent experience. Multiple area locations
