These recently opened eateries offer Korean BBQ, sandwiches, sweet treats, and more.

Eat your way out of the winter doldrums with new restaurants in Northern Virginia. Local foodies can indulge in tasty pizzas, fresh seafood, and massive dumplings at the region’s latest dining establishments.

Alexandria

Cooper Mill

Housed in an old warehouse space in Old Town Alexandria, Cooper Mill serves diners tavern fare including a variety of bar bites, pizzas, salads, and sandwiches in a historic setting. Cooper Mill is open daily at 11 a.m. and is booking private events on its second floor. 10 Duke St., Alexandria

Shorty’s Deluxe

Shorty’s Deluxe in Del Ray is the most recent addition to the Neighborhood Restaurant Group, with a menu full of sandwiches, salads, and soups. The sandwich lineup is “all about flavor without pretense,” with names inspired by punk rock band The Ramones. 2016 Mt. Vernon Ave., Alexandria

Taste of the Philippines

Ford’s Fish Shack

The Chantilly outpost marks the restaurant chain’s third sit-down venture, along with to-go and catering locations. Expect fresh fish and seafood dishes, raw and chilled, as well as served fried or broiled, in pasta, sandwiches, and rolls. This Japanese Izakaya and sake bar is in a soft-opening phase in its new space in Chantilly. This is the second location of the restaurant, following a flagship in Flushing, New York. Montclair

Taqueria Urbano

Visit this Prince William County restaurant for authentic Mexican cuisine. Located at the Montclair Country Club and open to the public, Taqueria Urbano will offer dine in, to go, and breakfast options. It’s set to open January 30. 16500 Edgewood Dr., Montclair

Fairfax

ChoSun Hwaro Korean BBQ

With table-top gas grills, guests at this new Korean barbecue spot can enjoy grilling their favorite cuts of meat right at the table. Visit for Japanese wagyu beef, as well as certified angus cuts of beef like boneless short rib, prime ribeye, and tenderloin.
