There’s something about late-night pizza that makes it more delicious. Northern Virginia is full of pizza shops that bake everything from the crispy-edged Detroit-style to the flat and foldable Brooklyn-style. When you’re in the mood for midnight pie, check out these pizza shops that area open after 10 p.m.
New York Pizza Factory
Open until 3 a.m., delivery and takeout until 2 a.m.
Beyond the monstrous Brooklyn pies, you’ll find a host of pasta dishes, salads, and gyros at this late-night dive. Order the beef steak stromboli with your pizza, and don’t forget the deep-fried Oreos (a must, if you have the munchies). Online ordering is available or call ahead for takeout. 11143 Lee Hwy., Fairfax
Malek’s Pizza Palace
Open until 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, 2 a.m. the rest of the week
This family-owned pizza joint has been around for over 40 years, and it’s still slinging pies until the wee morning hours. New York–style pizza is the name of the game here, but the restaurant also offers many vegan options, sandwiches, subs, and desserts. Takeout orders need to be placed at least a half hour before closing. 7118 Old Keene Mill Rd., Springfield
Pazzo Pomodoro Vienna
Open until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, 1 a.m. the rest of the week
Chef Nicky de Chiara serves made-from-scratch Neapolitan-inspired dishes at this Vienna staple. Go for a classic like the Reginella, topped with Buffalo mozzarella, San Marzano tomatoes, fresh garlic, and basil. Or try something different, like the Pulcinella, topped with Italian sausage, smoked mozzarella, and broccoli rabe. There’s an Ashburn location, but it does not have late-night hours. 118 Branch Rd. SE, Vienna; 19825 Belmont Chase Dr., Ashburn
Colony Grill
Open until 12:30 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, 11 p.m. the rest of the week
You won’t find anything else quite like this bar-style hot oil pie served at Colony Grill. The mid-Atlantic outpost of this Connecticut chain serves its signature pizza until after midnight on the weekends. Try yours with Serrano and sweet peppers for a mouthwatering combo. 2800 Clarendon Blvd., Arlington
Tony’s NY Pizza
Open until 11 p.m.
This family-run Fairfax County pizzeria has been hand-spinning New York-style pizzas since 1994. The restaurant also offers Sicilian-style pan pizza, calzones, and antipasto. For dessert, try the tiramisu or housemade cannolis. 13087 Fair Lakes Shopping Center, Fairfax; 2912B Chain Bridge Rd., Oakton
Emmy Squared
Open until 11 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, 10 p.m. the rest of the week
It’s hip to be square at this Detroit-style chain in the heart of Old Town Alexandria. Try the MVP, topped with housemade vodka red sauce and pesto on a sesame seed crust for a late-night treat. Save room for the skillet-baked triple chocolate brownie. 124 King St., Alexandria
Wiseguy Pizza
Hours vary by location
Mix and match with a vast array of toppings and pizza styles. Vegans and vegetarians will rejoice over options like the Bianca Supreme (with white garlic sauce and vegan cheese) or the Mushroom Truffle (with goat cheese).
