Warm up at these welcoming restaurants with fireplaces perfect for enjoying a winter meal with loved ones. 

The Red Fox Inn & Tavern 

This historic, small-town inn and tavern has a  cozy vibe with working fireplaces. Dining options are equally cozy, with comfort food like cider glazed fried rabbit and butternut squash ravioli. 2 E. Washington St., Middleburg 

The Old Brogue 

If you’re craving a mouthwatering sandwich (try the beer battered cod) or a hearty lamb and barley stew, this charming Irish pub is a great place to sit and enjoy a meal by the fire. 760 Walker Rd., Great Falls  

Dogwood Tavern 

This warm and rustic Falls Church haunt typically offers a soup of the day option perfect for enjoying fireside. There are also regular weeknight deals like happy hour on weekdays from 3 to 7 p.m. and live music on weekends. 132 W. Broad St., Falls Church 

Walsh Family Wine 

Sarah and Nate Walsh met in 2012, married in 2013, and opened Walsh Family Wine in 2014. The family-owned feel of this Purcellville winery holds true, with both indoor and outdoor fireplaces, tasting events, and a winter woodfire dinner with Chef James Graeter. 16031 Hillsboro Rd., Purcellville 

The Winery at Kindred Pointe 

Love horses? This winery’s tasting room is a repurposed horse stable. The fireplace is complemented by homey, overstuffed couches, and wood-paneled walls. The mulled wine is delicious and if you end up taking the whole family for an adventure, there are s’mores kits for the children. 3575 Conicville Rd., Mt. Jackson 

J. Gilbert’s 

This steak and seafood restaurant in McLean has a fireplace (and five additional locations throughout the country). Classic fare includes ribeye, filet mignon, roasted salmon, and oysters Rockefeller. There’s also an incredible burger served on a pretzel bun. 6930 Old Dominion Dr., McLean 

Murphy’s Grand Irish Pub 

Murphy’s food is simple and hearty like shepherd’s pie, bangers and mash, and Irish meat and potato pie. Dishes arebest enjoyed with a pint or two by the wood-burning fireplace. 713 King St., Alexandria 

Joon 

This Persian restaurant includes a fireplace to add ambiance as you dine on kabobs or nibble on falafel, hummus, and baba ganoush. There is also an extensive cocktail and wine list to choose from. 8045 Leesburg Pike, Ste. 120, Vienna 

Magnolias at the Mill 

You’ll find this welcoming Loudoun County restaurant has multiple menus: lunch, dinner, and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. There’s also a kids’ menu and a number of gluten-free options.  Its private party room has a fireplace perfect to rent for a family event. 198 N. 21st St., Purcellville
