Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays everyone loves to hate. If you’re part of a couple, you have to make it a big deal no matter who says they don’t want to do anything. If you’re single, you could sit at home but why bother? Instead, grab your girlfriends and head to one of these spots that has pink cocktails.
Songbird
This is a place that your ladies will love. With a chinoiserie vibe and intimate quarters, this place is the place for a girls’ night. The brand new cocktail bar is offering two specialty drinks, both pink. The Lychee Spritz ($17) tastes like lychee and champagne bubbles in a spritz-flavored format. The other pink drink is called the Pink Strawberry Negroni ($17). It’s a strawberry-infused coconut-flavored negroni, which sounds like a lot of different things going on, but it’s light, fresh, and slightly bitter. 10940 Fairfax Blvd., Fairfax
Tarbenders Lounge
Enter this 1920s-style speakeasy through a hotdog stand’s phone booth (we recommend the chili cheese dog if you can’t make it to the bar). For $120 a couple, you and your bestie get a three-course meal with a pink champagne toast to close your evening out right. The Serenade Surf ‘n’ Turf starts off with oysters, then filet medallion and poached lobster tail. There’s a live jazz clarinet, with a soloist who will personally serenade you and your gal friend. The Study at Morrison House
Aside from a stellar Valentine’s Day dinner (pork loin or trout in three courses), you can order the Mandela Effect ($16) which is made with gin, Pimm’s, velvet falernum, and orgeat syrup, topped with a watermelon foam. A little summertime flavor in the dreary days of February will kill the pain of even the biggest broken heart. 116 S. Alfred St., Alexandria
Ms. Peacock’s Champagne Lounge
This doo-wop–style cocktail bar is the perfect place for optimism. The specials include a three-course meal ($75) that comes with a Le Fizz, that is, again, pink. The drink is made with vodka, a splash of lime juice, St-Germain, strawberry syrup, and champagne. The elderflower liquor gives this strawberry-heavy drink some floral aromatics. 929 N. Ellie Bird
A new cocktail is rolling out at Ellie Bird that’s called the Tidal Basin ($16). It doubles as the Valentine’s Day and the Cherry Blossom Festival cocktail. The drink uses seasonal pickled huckleberries as a flavor base, then a bit of Tito’s vodka, a spring of fresh mint, a blast of bergamot, some rose-based amaro, and comes topped with some bubbles. 125 Founders Ave., Falls Church
Piedmont Steakhouse
Piedmont is offering a sweetheart mimosa ($14), which is cranberry juice and champagne for the less adventurous among us. The gentleman’s Old Fashioned ($19) uses Buffalo Trace bourbon whiskey, brown sugar, a dash of bitters, and fresh muddled orange. This one is more pinkish brown, to be honest. 110 E.
