For those who want to find out when high-demand bourbons and spirits will be available at Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority stores, you can sign up for text alerts.
You’ll need to text the word DROPS to 80424 to get the text notifications for limited availability product drops. You will have to attest that you are at least 21.
Virginia ABC will continue email notifications for the limited products.
But starting in mid-October you will no longer be able to find out about the limited products on Facebook or Instagram.
The state started the drop system in 2022 as a way to be equitable with the high-demand bourbons. ABC randomizes the timing and stores to keep people from lining up for them. Staffers are only told a short time before the drop notifications go out.
When a limited quantity product does become available, ABC limits it to one per customer per day.
